Manticore 1903 PD

By 1903 PD, the Star Kingdom of Manticore controlled two star systems:

1. The Manticore Binary System (home system with three inhabited planets)
2. The Basilisk System (annexed in 1865 PD to control the wormhole terminus)

The Endicott System (Masada) came under military occupation during 1903 PD following the events of "Honor of the Queen," but was not yet formally incorporated.

Estimated based on economic output relative to Sol System in 1900 PD:

• Manticore's GSP was 78% of Sol's GSP (the highest in human space)
• Manticore achieved this with ~3.2 billion people vs Sol's 10+ billion
• Per-capita economic output approximately 2-3x Sol's
• Technology includes interstellar travel, fusion power, and advanced industry

Sol System in 1900 PD is an advanced interstellar hub, estimated at K~1.1-1.3. Manticore at 78% of that economic output with 1/3 the population indicates very high energy usage per capita.

However, neither civilization harvests stellar-scale energy (not Type II), placing Manticore solidly in the Type I range at approximately K=1.1.

The Manticore Binary System contains three inhabited planets:

• Manticore (capital world, Manticore-A III)
• Sphinx (Manticore-A IV, homeworld of treecats)
• Gryphon (Manticore-B IV, only habitable world in the B subsystem) All three were settled by the original colonists who arrived aboard the sublight colony ship Jason in 1416 PD.

The Star Kingdom operates as a constitutional monarchy established in 1485 PD when Roger Winton was crowned King Roger I. The government consists of:

• The Monarch (House of Winton) as head of state with Royal Prerogative powers
• A bicameral Parliament with House of Lords (upper) and House of Commons (lower)
• A Prime Minister leading the government via parliamentary majority
• The Royal Council (Cabinet) advising the Crown

The Constitution requires heirs to the throne to marry commoners to maintain connection with the people.

Estimated total population across the three inhabited planets of the Manticore System (Manticore, Sphinx, Gryphon) plus asteroid belt populations. By 1922 PD the system had ~3.6 billion; by 1920 PD Sphinx had 1.2 billion and Gryphon had ~575 million (planet) plus 298 million in asteroid belts. Extrapolating backward to 1903 PD suggests approximately 3.2 billion total, with most residing in the Manticore-A subsystem.
