Estimated Kardashev level for a warp-capable civilization with ~1000 years of FTL travel history. The Andorians achieved warp in ~1154 AD and by 2161 had 14 inhabited worlds with Kumari-class ships exceeding warp 5.

For comparison: Earth 2023 (single planet, no FTL) = K0.73. Federation 2373 (150 worlds, replicators) = K1.0. The Andorians fall between these as an established interstellar civilization approaching Type I status.

The Andorian Empire at its height possessed 13 colonies outside the home system, plus the homeworld Andoria (a moon of the gas giant Olith in the Procyon system).

Known colonies include: Alrond, Cimera III, Weytahn (disputed with Vulcans), Threllvia IV, and others. Total count is 14 (13 colonies + 1 homeworld).

The Andorian Empire is a constitutional monarchy established in the 19th century when Thalisar the Last unified the warring clans. She deliberately died childless and created the parliamentary democracy that has governed Andoria since.

The position of head of state is symbolically empty, represented by the Empty Throne in the Parliament Andoria Complex. The head of government is the Chancellor (or Presider), determined by the majority party in Parliament.

According to the non-canon reference book "Star Trek Star Charts" (2002), the Andorians achieved warp capability in 1154 AD (Earth calendar).

This makes them one of the oldest warp-capable civilizations in the Alpha Quadrant, predating humans by approximately 900 years (Earth achieved warp in 2063). For comparison: Vulcans achieved warp ~320 AD, Klingons ~930 AD.

No canon population figure exists. Non-canon sources cite ranges of 5-11 billion. Federation Space Wiki states Andoria alone has 5 billion Andorians. Memory Beta references 11 billion at the empire's height across all colonies. 8 billion is used as a reasonable midpoint estimate for 2161.
